And of course being Thursday, new on EBay for you tonight are a bunch of sweeties: maxi dresses and clutches are the theme of the week, including a very early Laura Ashley dress, from the days when she and her husband were printing their own fabric in Wales.Designer Laura Ashley based her early prints on fabric she found in a Women's Institute exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. You can see the Victorian influence if you look at the print, but the colours are completely of the time, and remind us that the 1970s - when purple reigned supreme - were just round the corner when this dress was made.
It's nice when we get to handle pieces like this.
